Now, at the heart of one of Australia's favourite playgrounds, a popular retail and entertainment complex has dramatically upped its game.Bovis Lend Lease was managing contractor for the design detailing and construction of the multi-stage expansion of QIC's Robina Town Centre into a first-choice leisure and shopping destination.The Northern Malls redevelopment of Robina Town Centre saw the addition of many new retail stores and a state-of-the-art cinema complex, and includes key drawcards, such as high-end boutique shopping and directional assisted car parking.Specific work on the upgrade included a new 11-theatre Event Cinema Complex home to Queensland's first V-MAX Cinema with a total 2500-seat capacity; a 10,000m² Big W; a 4500m² Woolworths; a new 900-seat food court; an 1100-bay car park and space for over 100 new specialty retailers. The completed upgrade has resulted in three new enclosed, air-conditioned malls including a two-level galleria mall with a curved skylight roof connecting Arbour Lane and Bazaar Street to a myriad of new retailers as well as anchor tenants David Jones and Big W. A ring road was introduced to provide improved access for customers and through traffic to the bustling complex.In addition, the project involved redeveloping the lake area to create a lakeside promenade with restaurants, a children's play area and landscaped gardens. An eco-friendly vegetation filter system was incorporated to maintain water quality.Robina Town Centre was already a thriving retail complex, so Bovis Lend Lease had to carefully structure the redevelopment to ensure the existing outlets could continue trading throughout the duration of works.Bovis Lend Lease has set new benchmarks for retail developments, not only in Queensland but around the country. The company has delivered some of Australia's premier retail destinations, including the new Top Ryde City in Sydney, Melbourne Central and Sunshine Plaza.
