For the Tony Chi-designed Glass restaurant and Zeta bar at the Hilton Sydney, Planet Lighting was contracted to design, manufacture and install a complete package of custom light fittings and glass features.As well as suspended fittings and wall lights, the project included the glass stack wall behind the Zeta bar (above) and the mirrored ceiling in the restaurant (above left). Industrial designer Gregory Mann says Planet Lighting's in-house designers work from architects' plans, sketches, and specifications for materials and surface finishes."For this project all the custom light fittings, or building jewellery as we call them, were made from custom designs, with most components handmade in the Planet factory. Many of the raw materials, such as the alabaster, the American walnut, and the fabrics used in the lampshades were sourced from as far as Spain and the United States."
