Grand hotel lobbies are designed to make a strong visual statement and furnishings are usually specified to enhance this sense of arrival. For the soaring lobby in the newly remodelled Hilton Sydney, a collection of eye-catching rugs manufactured by Designer Rugs helps define the casual seating areas.

Designer Rugs' managing director Yosi Tal says the rugs were designed by interior designer Joseph Pang to introduce a bold, geometric look that complements both the design and colour of the seating. The rugs help define the seating areas around the columns within the spacious lobby.

Designer Rugs also provided custom rugs for the lift lobbies and other parts of the hotel. These, too, have a strong contemporary flavour, with colours chosen to complement finishes and veneers.
