Giving a new meaning to indoor-outdoor flow
Many homes aren’t fortunate to have a large – or any outdoor space. When that’s the case, your only choices are to accept your fate or find a creative solution. The designers behind this home chose the latter.
Sitting on a narrow, steep site in Sydney’s Balmoral, this home by Sanctum Design goes up rather than out.
And that applies to the outdoor living areas too – there's an elegant outdoor terrace that takes up about half of the home’s top floor.

By making the most of the home’s vertically stacked design, the terrace makes the most of sprawling views of nearby beaches and harbour headlands.
Up on the terrace there's there’s plenty to keep a family with young teenagers occupied – including a small L-shaped pool, firepit, outdoor cooking area and even a lawn!
The sandstone used on the terrace is also found on the home’s exterior – the same material used on older mansions found in the neighbourhood.
