Gather round - modern showpiece kitchen by Drury Design

Always in the kitchen at parties? This revamped kitchen brings a whole new meaning to that phrase with its large island and separate wet bar, it is ideally set up for entertaining on a large scale.

The award-winning project, designed by Gail Drury CMKBD of Drury Design and Ginny Blasco of Ginny Blasco Design Studio, Inc, has transformed an outdated oak kitchen, providing the one-of-a-kind look the owners wanted.

Drury says the basic footprint of the room, the casings and flooring and entrances could not be changed. But she was able to incorporate a large island with seating for five. Two side windows were made taller to create a fresh, new look.

"A muted high-gloss paint color was chosen to offset the dark-stained cabinetry," she says. "And we added a splash of soft green in the near-symmetrical center cabinetry, which houses the refrigerator and pantry."

Other special features include custom pewter tile inserts and pewter brackets that support the bar top.

The cabinets were built by The Grabill Cabinet Company a firm that has been crafting high-end kitchens and bathrooms for more than half a century.
