Lighting creates specific moods appropriate to the various parts of the Carlaw precinct and Quest hotel
A skilfully executed lighting design creates a sense of wellbeing. Eliminating any dim areas and balancing the brightness makes a space more comfortable.
Electrical construction and maintenance firm Dickson-Gray carried out the electrical fit-out for the Quest hotel and the main commercial building. Working with a consultant, the company installed the lighting for both buildings to meet the high standard of the complex. Dickson-Gray also installed discreet security cameras inside and outside the buildings.
With a tight schedule, it was necessary to complete the contract on time and on budget, says company director Paul Henare.
"With a focus on good lighting installation, Dickson-Gray brought in the necessary manpower to achieve high-quality work within the required time frame," he says. "The staff are New Zealand registered and all are site-safe certified."
The result was lighting systems that create the right atmosphere to suit the different style of each structure, from the bright hotel lobby to the softer light in the commercial building.
Dickson-Gray is a family-owned company, started in 1971, which specialises in design/build contracts. Among its many and varied contracts have been schools, airports, warehouses and retail centres, as well as carpark and roadway lighting.
