With our fast-paced lifestyles it's easy to overlook the time-honored ritual of leisurely bathing and grooming and the sense of calm and relaxation it can bring.

It's a concept Kohler has addressed with the introduction of the sleek, contemporary Fountainhead Collection. Kohler vice president of industrial design Mary Reid says the master bathroom suite should be viewed as a place to get away from it all.

"Grooming while sitting down is not a new concept by any stretch of the imagination, yet our culture has long lost this perspective and it is time to revisit it," she says. "Kohler's Fountainhead Collection is designed to help you create the serene environment needed in order to relax and slow down."

The collection's furniture pieces and components combine to provide innovative storage within reach, integrated water delivery and power outlets, and touch-activated lighting. Durable, luxurious materials, a hallmark of Kohler products, are also much in evidence.

The collection includes three above-counter basins, one crafted from Greek Thassos marble and the other two from Kohler cast iron. Their flowing, organic lines were designed for visual impact.

The furniture includes vanities for small powder rooms, as well as larger items suitable for grand master bathrooms. With a nod towards contemporary design, the furniture incorporates flowing shapes, as seen in the complex curve in the legs of several vanities. Reid describes the design as a fresh departure from the overly geometric shapes commonly found in modern furniture pieces.

The Fountainhead Collection also presents the new VibrAcoustic bath. This technology envelops the bather in a multi-sensory environment that synchronizes music, vibration and light with water to provide a highly relaxing bathing experience. A user-friendly DTV interface controls all features and affords bathers the option of listening to a favorite playlist from an MP3 player, or a radio station.

Another offering in the collection is a new shower door. The French door design is a departure from the traditional pivot and by-pass door styles. It has a simple, clean-lined aesthetic, which coordinates well with the Fountainhead furniture.
