Fresh approach
The bounty of the sea is showcased to maximum effect with this fitout of Pacific Catch by Amstar Interiors
An effective shop interior will offer a contemporary decor and display its products to optimum advantage. But the practical considerations of the business also have to be catered for.
Placement of the refrigeration plant was an important technical aspect of Amstar Interiors' fitout of Pacific Catch, designed by architect Richard Bullet.
Starting from a concrete shell, Amstar created a modern retail environment that let the refrigerated displays take centre stage, says director Keith Brockbank.
"A feature of the interior is a suspended panelled ceiling in stained ply," says Brockbank. "This was tricky to configure and conceals the services required to keep the shop running. The ceiling contains random strip lighting, with spot lighting falling on the displays."
Another important element was the laying of a sandy-toned resin floor complete with runaway channels, enabling the shop to be easily hosed down at night.
Amstar finished most walls in a cool white, however a feature burgundy wall displays Pacific Catch's name and a separate takeaway area defined by blue walls.
Pacific Catch general manager Richard Ellis says the up-market fitout has attracted positive feedback from a number of clients.
