French flair

Most areas of French lifestyle, from fashion to food, have a reputation for being well designed. So it's no surprise to find that French kitchens are highly respected throughout Europe.

Kitchens from French company Schmidt, one of Europe's top manufacturers, are available in Australia, and can be seen at one of Schmidt Australia's three showrooms in Sydney, or at its new Gold Coast showroom. To suit a variety of tastes, each studio displays a diverse range of kitchens, from traditional or classic designs to high-tech contemporary styles.

For each kitchen, the company's local designers work closely with clients and incorporate the latest trends, finishes, hardware and craftsmanship.

The owners of the kitchen featured here wanted a clean, contemporary look, so they chose Schmidt's new Snow White gloss lacquer for the cabinetry. This is teamed with aluminium-framed, 10mm-thick, opaque frosted glass benchtops. Cabinetry is internally lit, and a track system provides storage on the back wall.
