Finishing touches

The dominant feature in many modern kitchens is the island bench. As well as extending the kitchen into the living area, it can incorporate appliances and hide kitchen mess.

BML Building and Joinery constructed and installed the split-level island bench, sliding pantry doors and kitchen cabinetry in this home.

The granite-topped island bench, which has two lower levels and a central upper level, incorporates the sink and the dishwasher.

The pantry is located behind a series of three sliding doors. The sliding door option was chosen over bi-folding doors, which would have taken up more space when opened. Other kitchen appliances, plus a television, are also concealed behind kitchen cabinetry.

To avoid having protruding handles, BML Building and Joinery has included finger pulls in the drawers and cupboards.

The cabinet-making and joinery firm also constructed and installed the bathroom and laundry cabinets, and the louvred television and stereo cabinets in this home.
