Finishing touches
Create a stand-out individual kitchen from a broad range of cabinetry styles and accessories with Kwik Kit options from PlaceMakers
Creating an effective working kitchen with the latest finishes and design elements needn't break the bank. Dressing up standard well-built, kitset cabinetry with a feature benchtop or fine Italian handles can create an up-market effect without excessive outlay.
Over recent years, PlaceMakers has greatly increased the number of kitset kitchen styles available to developers, architects and home-owners, says category manager Mark Jennens.
"In terms of economic viability, functionality and quality of workmanship, our Kwik Kit kitchen range offers strong practical advantages," says Jennens. "Three years ago, we offered 16 standard Kwik Kit cabinet options today PlaceMakers offers over 30."
The cabinets form the building blocks of a Kwik Kit kitchen and are available in every configuration, from base corners through to walk in pantries and elongated wine racks.
However, the versatility of Kwik Kit kitchens is as much in the finer detail as it is in the configuration of the cabinetry.
"Savings made on standardisation of cabinetsallow our clients to realign their budgets to include top-end finishes and design features," says Jennens. "These finishing touches give the kitchens an individual air, such as the look of a European designer kitchen but for a fraction of the cost."
Four door styles and six colour options are two elements that can be mixed and matched to create an individual look. Frosted glass doors with aluminium edging, for example, work well with a contemporary design.
"When combined with other touches, like the island rolling on castors and the selection of Italian handles, the whole look of the kitchen is dramatically lifted," says Jennens. "Almost every aspect of our Kwik Kit kitchens can be mixed and matched to create literally hundreds of combinations."
Workbench surfaces can be selected in a variety of materials, including solid wood, stainless steel, granite and even concrete. These can be specified in both 30mm and 60mm depths. The design of the benchtops can also be varied. For example, they can be configured to create a waterfall-effect, whereby the surface material is run over the edges of the counter to form the sides of the cabinets.
"Other elements available to put an individual stamp on your kitchen are wire carousels and aluminium toekicks, for a modern accent, or the inclusion of tongue and groove-effect doors and drawers for a country-style look," says Jennens.
Because the componentry is interchangeable it is also possible to completely alter the look of your Kwik Kit kitchen by switching door panels, drawer fronts or handles.
"These kitchens make life easier for developers and homeowners," says Jennens. "Kwik Kit comes in handy flat-packs which are easy to install."
The Kwik Kit Kitchen Planner provides useful information and planning advice for undertaking the entire project.
