There's no better way to appreciate a kitchen design than by being able to see the completed project. Similarly, a hands-on experience with new products gives you a much greater appreciation than virtual reality.

In the past, the only way to see a mix of kitchens was to traipse across town from one store to another. Today, there's an easy way to see the very latest designs all in one place.

The Architects & Designers Building is home to the New York metro area's largest collection of luxury showrooms for kitchen, bath and home building products. Katherine Flaherty, vice president building products and special projects for the building's manager, Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc (MMPI) says the A&D Building offers both the design trade and discerning consumers access to more than 30 showrooms and thousands of kitchen and bathroom products.

Located at 150 East 58th Street, in the heart of Manhattan's East Midtown luxury-business grid, the Architects & Designers Building is in an area know as the decorative arts district.

"It is the ideal location for a building that has come to be recognized as a highly professional, design-led showroom resource," says Flaherty. "The top-of-the-line products on display fulfillthe needs of any kitchen design, from sleek contemporary to classic modern and traditional.

Flaherty says every showroom houses a top European or North American brand, including Allmilme¶, Poggenpohl and SieMatic from Germany; B&B Italia/Arclinea, Boffi, Pedini Cucine, Snaidero and Varenna from Italy; and Bilotta/Rutt Cabinetry, Neff, St Charles of New York and American Classic Kitchens/Wood-Mode from the USA and Canada. High-end appliance companies such as Sub-Zero/Wolf and Miele also have showrooms in the A&D Building.

Flaherty says the displays in each showroom enable you to view many different kitchen settings and create a complete kitchen using that one company's products and design services.

"Design experts are on hand to offer customers solutions to their most challenging projects," she says. "Our showroom professionals have a wealth of experience and can ensure that your completed kitchen is just as you envisioned it."
