It's a development that Howard Lund of metrichome recognizes. The company specializes in supplying custom cabinetry with contemporary, sleek lines and understated finishes.

"We believe that a good design philosophy is when elements are reduced to the essentials. This creates solutions where form follows on from function, with simple finishes that highlight the natural qualities of the materials," he says.

The cabinetry is custom made by German manufacturer Eggersmann. Wood worktops and bar tops can be specified in one of 30 wood species, as well as stone, glass and other materials.

"Eggersmann produces kitchens with new types of materials for the fronts, such as granite, Carrara marble, German green stone and painted glass," he says.

All metrichome products are made to measure, from kitchens to bath vanities, wardrobes, sliding doors and benches.

"Our approach allows all rooms of the home to be personalized from the wardrobe with jewelry drawers to match the size and number of pieces, to a library for collectable books and art."

Walk-in closets with drawers, extendable shoe racks, lighted shelves, pants hangers, and shirt trays provide storage for specific functions.
