Entertaining the idea
With its flowing interior and strong indoor-outdoor connection, this new home by Intrepid Development takes the best elements of Tuscan architecture and adapts them to the Las Vegas lifestyle
In many parts of Europe, homes remain in the same family for generations growing with the family as needs change.
This custom home by Intrepid Development reflects that notion. In a design that is reminiscent of both Tuscan and Mission-style architecture, the house appears as an extended, single-story home.
The owners, Kenny and Ginger Kuykendall say differing roof elevations break up the uniformity and help impart the sense of a traditional villa that has been added onto over the years.
The extensive use of stone veneer, particularly the archways and the courtyard entrance with its wrought-iron inserts, reinforces this theme.
As the owners like to entertain, the interior features free-flowing, open-plan spaces, which can be fully opened to the outdoors. Large, 28ft-wide, glass pocket doors open to a patio that resembles a traditional loggia. Mist spray curtains help keep the interior cool in summer.
Other special features include the kitchen, which has a large island made in England from refurbished wood and a old butcher's block.
