Aside from being used on a day-to-day basis, the kitchen is often the setting for business occasions, so the design needed to be multifunctional. Bradburn says she knew this design brief was unusual, so was looking for a boutique company that could deal with it professionally. This kitchen is used for everyday living as well as enteraining and business functions, so the design needed to provide a sense of drama without being too dominating "A high level of design flair was needed to create a custom space that fulfilled my requirements," she says.The wall behind the island benchtop features custom-designed and printed wallpaper. It conceals a scullery where appliances and storage are hidden. This can be closed off when entertaining, or kept open for easy access when the owner is completing everyday tasks. The limestone island is extra long at five metres. It houses the sink, gas hob, dishwasher, storage cupboards and a pop-up power station that can be hidden when not in use.
