The new Skyhome apartments on top of The Aurora, Brisbane's tallest residential building, have spectacular, panoramic daytime views and almost become part of the Milky Way at night
The materials chosen for the surfaces in The Aurora contribute strongly to creating the required atmosphere and look. Nowhere is this better demonstrated than in the lobby, where limestone tiles on the floor and walls enhance the sense of grandeur.
Tilecorp supplied and installed 33,000m² of tiles, including the limestone in the lobby and the vitrified tiles laid throughout the CBD apartments and Skyhomes. To complete its part of the project on time and within budget, Tilecorp worked closely with Bovis Lend Lease.
Director David Mullan says Bovis Lend Lease ensured the project ran without a hitch.
"As a result of the company's management of the contract and the contractors, the whole project was well-run, smooth and trouble-free in every aspect, from the material handling requirements for access to safety processes," he says.
Tilecorp, which has been in business for 14 years, is one of the largest tiling contractors in Australia, employing more than 140 people. Most of the its work is in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
