"I can trust it with my best crystal wine glasses" there are many reasons why kitchen designers are specifying a Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer®

It is always interesting to see which appliances kitchen designers specify they are, after all, in a good position to make informed comparisons.

For an increasing number of designers, that choice is the Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer®, and the only real decision to be made is whether to opt for a Double DishDrawer or two side-by-side models.

Many designers say the side-by-side models are popular with empty-nesters who appreciate the ergonomic benefits of not having to bend down to load and unload the dishwasher. Many smaller families also like this model, as they can put through a single, smaller wash.

But whatever the preference, both options provide two independent dishwashing options. This means you can stack dishes in one DishDrawer while the other is operating.

Lisa McCauley of McCauley Design in Barrington, Illinois says she specifies Fisher & Paykel DishDrawers for more than 80% of her kitchen projects.

"We used to have to educate our clients about the product, but we no longer have to do that the brand is so well-recognized," she says. "A single DishDrawer makes a great second dishwasher. I usually place it on the island or the beverage center. It is ideal for empty-nesters."

McCauley says she loves the new molded interior, as there are no seams where residue can accumulate.

For designer Dee Dee Ackerman of DL Ackerman Design Group, Folsom, California, there were many reasons to opt for a Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer for her own home, but the most important factor was the need for an appliance she could trust with her crystal wine glasses.

"My husband represents a winery in Napa, California and Washington State, which means we entertain and serve wine in many different types of wine glasses, many of which are expensive lead crystal.

"Almost all wine glasses have a long stem, which can make using a dishwasher almost an impossible task. The Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer tackles the problem with finesse, producing spotless stemware. This is something I could never do with any other dishwashing unit. Many broken stems were found on the bottom of our last regular-size dishwasher."

Ackerman says the extra height in each Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer makes it easy to load and unload the crystal stemware.

For designer Karen Lodygowski of the McNulty Design Group in Glencoe, Illinois, the clean lines and functionality of the DishDrawer are key benefits. McNulty says the Double Dishwasher is usually the preferred option for her clients, although she also specifies single-drawer models.

"We are very pleased with the product. I have had only positive comments from clients," she says.

Sara Brautigam of Geneva Cabinet Company in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin says the three designers in the office all specify DishDrawers for clients.

"As this is a resort area, many of our designs are for vacation homes. The Dish-Drawers fit well into smaller homes, and clients love their ease of use," she says.

Laurence Mawhinney, Fisher & Paykel Appliances' vice president of sales and marketing, says that both the single and Double DishDrawers have been awarded Energy Star status.

"Environmentally friendly appliance design is a major focus for our company," he says. "Our appliances not only provide energy savings, but are also designed to protect environmental resources."
