Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in New Zealand, accounting for 40% of deaths annually. Funding research and raising awareness continue to be the main avenues for addressing this statistic.

As part of the fundraising effort, The Heart Foundation, in association with Jennian Homes, has built a house on The Coromandel Peninsula to be first prize in an upcoming lottery.

"The Heart Foundation Lottery is a great way for people to support a vital cause," says interior designer Teri Donnelly of Yellowfox, who also worked on the house.

"The Coromandel is one of the country's best loved holiday spots, and the interior of this three-bedroom property reflects this.

"An enticing entry foyer flows smoothly into an open-plan living-dining-kitchen area and out onto a deck with pergola."

Donnelly, with fellow designer Peta Davy, chose a neutral palette of Resene one-eighth Thorndon Cream for the walls, which was accented with Resene Wanderlust. This vibrant green was also used on the front door, and has been picked up in soft furnishings.

Throughout the house, the designers played with the green palette, introducing yellow-greens in the bedroom for a lively feel and blue-greens in the bathroom to create a more relaxed atmosphere.
