Design in the spotlight
This new kitchen in the Fyfe Kitchens showroom profiles the latest design trends and materials
For most homeowners, planning a new kitchen is something they may do only once every 10 or more years. And of course, in that time, fashions, technology and materials change dramatically.
To show what's cooking in modern kitchens, Fyfe Kitchens has equipped its showroom with a new collection, including this highly contemporary kitchen.
A sculptural island takes centre stage its chunky cantilevered stained-oak top forming part of a casual seating area. The oak table top is paired with a thin Latte CaesarStone benchtop, sleek, lacquered cabinets and negative detailing that enhances the horizontal lines.
The designer says the island is a break away from typical waterfall benchtops. At 90mm deep, the oak top matches the thickness of the stainless steel benchtop on the rear wall. Stainless steel also features on the island legs, which enhance the sense that the island is floating.
Other highlights include oak veneer cabinetry with sliding glass doors and mirror-glass display shelving. All the cabinets, including units in the butler's pantry, are equipped with the latest drawer technology and storage systems, including recycling bins and corner carousels.
