DEMANDING COMFORT
With increasing spending on home entertainment, the market is shifting towards lounge furniture that puts comfort on the same footing as design
The consumer trend for spending more leisure time at home, coupled with high rates of back and neck pain, means that recliners and sofas need to deliver lasting support as well as good looks.
Marketing manager Karl Fiskerstrand says that the Scandinavian-designed Stressless range of recliners and sofas is designed to meet this demand. The only recliners endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association, they move with the body to support it.
"The Stressless recliner has been voted the world's most comfortable, with over five million sold worldwide," he says.
The recliner works by supporting the head and neck with the patented Plus system while the body is supported by the double-support Glide system. The lumbar section adjusts automatically to support the lower back, no matter what position the person is in. Each recliner comes in two or three different sizes, with slightly different back heights, seat depths and widths.
"One size does not fit all, so we have designed this range so that there is a recliner for every body," says Fiskerstrand. "Customers are encouraged to try out the different models in the store before they find the recliner or sofa that's most suitable for them." The Stressless range is designed and manufactured in Norway and distributed in Australia by Scansin International through a network of furniture retailers.
