Contrast and calm
Playing off a colourful wider interior, this kitchen brings a serene balance – marble elements prevail against a background of dark joinery – a contrasting walk-in green pantry also features

From the designer:
In a house which is quite colourful in its interiors, and mottled in its exterior, this kitchen has been purposely pared back and is conceived as a study in contrast and calm.
Marble surfaces contrast dark joinery
It's a space where sculptural Calacatta Vagli marble sits against the simplicity of the dark joinery background, allowing the stone to take centre stage.
The fluted island anchors the room with a sense of craftsmanship, its veined stone surface catching light in soft, shifting patterns.
This particular slab was chosen for its golden hues which helps disguise the sins of a practical working kitchen.
Splashback provides a natural artwork
Behind it, the marble splashback becomes a natural artwork, adding drama and warmth to the otherwise restrained palette.
Tucked just beyond the main space, a full pantry, painted in a deep, enveloping green, offers a moment of surprise – a tonal shift that feels both luxurious yet playful at the same time.
A window within the pantry brings in natural light and enjoys a view out to the lush green passionfruit wall, turning a working zone into a small daily pleasure.
Together, these elements create a kitchen that is elegant, contemporary, and quietly expressive, balancing drama with serenity in a way that feels effortlessly composed.
