Ace Clear-Vu doors provide enough clarity for safety while enabling staff a measure of privacy behind the scenes

Providing easy access from the retail area of a large and busy supermarket to the storage and distribution areas located out the back of the building may sound like an open and shut case. However, a variety of health and safety requirements demand solutions that are both flexible and practical.

Ace Doors secured the contract to supply and install Ace Clear-Vu PVC swing doors in retail-to-service interfaces such as the delicatessen and grocery areas at Sylvia Park Pak'N Save.

Here the client's brief specified a reduced door opening size that allowed enough room to facilitate forklift use. In addition, there was to be enough vision through the doors for safety but maximum privacy between the retail and storage areas.

The solution, says Ace Doors general manager Bruce Millar, was to provide customised, top-hung gravity flaps in the larger opening, with smaller Clear-Vu PVC doors below.

This means forklifts can still access the area when necessary but only the smaller doors are used when pedestrian access is needed.

Nylon-reinforced PVC sheet panels were used in the manufacture of the doors for strength. A textured, grid-like pattern scoring the clear PVC means that staff can safely ascertain activity behind the doors, but customers have a distorted view of the storage and distribution area, maintaining privacy. Pak'N Save colour co-ordination is worked into the PVC door sheet.

"While there are four swing door models in the Ace Swing Door range, we will customise doors to our clients' requirements as we did at the Pak'N Save site," says Millar. "We pride ourselves on providing innovative door solutions to suit any business."
