In a coastal environment, this glass-fronted residence by Graeme Alexander Homes offers a comfortable, refined lifestyle

For most of us, a well-designed house by the sea is our dream acquisition.
This large, architecturally dynamic coastal residence by Graeme Alexander Homes reflects the company's specialist skill creating lifestyle residences, says director Graeme Alexander.
"The house is set at the beach end of what was once a promenade. Our clients were a local couple about to go into semi-retirement. Their brief was to replace the existing fibro-cement weekender with a comfortable, modern and permanent residence. They wanted to live there by themselves through the week, but still have room for their extended family to visit and enjoy the property on the weekends."

Both the front and rear of the site take in spectacular views. Graeme Alexander Homes maximised these outlooks in the design introducing several angled wall planes and a high degree of transparency right through the home.
"This was achieved with an open floor plan and a generous use of glass. The windows looking over the bay are floor to ceiling, as are the windows and doors around the deck. Inside, glass dividers continue the transparent effect."
There were several factors to consider when designing this home in a popular coastal area. Elevation was required to make the most of the view, while keeping the overall exterior appearance modest in scale. To achieve this, the company selected a slender, low roof line.

Graeme Alexander Homes is known for building high-end homes to exacting standards.
