In today's world, an increasing concern about unnecessary exposure to chemicals makes a swimming pool that needs no chemicals to function an attractive idea.

Garden design specialist Palmco Landscapes has incorporated the idea of a chemical-free, natural swimming pool into its range of products and services.

As well as the obvious health benefits of swimming in chemical-free water, these natural pools blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Pool cleaning is by a process that combines the use of plants and naturally occurring microorganisms. Such pools have distinct swimming and cleaning zones, either separated under the water or in two pools. Once the system is in place, no chemicals are required and the pool is self-cleaning.

General manager Jason Vokes says these pools become an integral part of the garden. "The plant life makes the swimming experience more pleasurable and forms a natural aquatic garden. Plants and swimming areas blend seamlessly."
