If you haven't updated your kitchen appliances in recent years, you probably won't be aware of the substantial advances in appliance design and technology.

GE has pioneered many such advances, which can be seen in the company's latest collections featured on these pages the GE Monogram® series and the GE Profile¢ series. And it's not just the look of the appliances that is transforming kitchens across America. Their efficiency is also offering numerous benefits in terms of time and energy savings, and in the preparation of healthy foods.

Both series are characterized by unmistakable styling. For example, stainless steel ovens in the Monogram collection have a clean, refined appearance, with finished edges, glass touch controls and slim, tubular handles.

GE Profile stainless steel ovens have a sleek, high-tech appearance, and sculptured handles that suit both contemporary and traditional decors.

Several ovens in both the Monogram and Profile collections feature award-winning Trivection¢ technology. This cooking system combines thermal, convection and microwave cooking in a single process, resulting in dishes that are not only tasty, but still retain their texture.

Paul Klein, general manager brand, GE Consumer & Industrial, says Trivection cooking is also up to three times faster than conventional cooking, and there's no need for special cookware.

"For maximum versatility, the Trivection wall oven is often paired with an Avantium® wall oven and warming drawer," says Klein.

The Advantium oven features GE's new Speedcook technology. This is a 4500W halogen cooking system that uses heat generated from light to rapidly cook the outside of foods, sealing in the natural juices. At the same time, microwave heat penetrates the food to cook it evenly.

Klein says the Advantium Speedcook oven cooks food up to eight times faster than conventional ovens. Another popular option is the Advantium 120 Speedcook oven, which cooks food by alternating halogen lights and microwaves. This cooks food up to four times faster than conventional ovens.

"Speedcook technology enables you to enjoy the convenience of quick-turnaround dinners, combined with the great taste of home-cooked meals," says Klein.

Other GE products also feature new technology. The GE Profile Arctica® refrigerator incorporates the advanced ClimateKeeper2¢ refrigeration system. This has two evaporators to cool the fresh food and freezer compartments separately.

"This allows proper humidity levels to be maintained, which helps keep food fresher longer," says Klein. "In addition, the system reduces freezer burn and keeps unpleasant food odors out of the ice. The refrigerator also features a compartment that can safely defrost food, and the CustomCool¢ drawer that chills drinks in minutes."

Klein says the gently contoured doors and re-designed stainless steel outfitting ensures the Arctica SxS is a dramatic addition to any kitchen.

The new GE Profile dishwasher is another example of new appliance technology at work. Styled to complement other appliances in the collection, this dishwasher features a fully integrated control panel hidden inside the top edge.

"The dishwasher is designed to minimize detergent usage, while still providing optimal cleaning," says Klein. "The latest water-flow design also ensures the dishwasher is very quiet, and a new water sensor reduces water consumption."
