Centre of attention
Clean lines, attention to symmetry and substantial work surfaces all ensure this kitchen by Joinery Specialists is a focal point of the living areas
In an open-plan living space, your new kitchen becomes an integral part of your decor. To ensure your kitchen is finished to the same standard as your living areas, it makes sense to choose a kitchen designer who places emphasis on both aesthetic impact and ergonomic flow.
Joinery Specialists is an Otago firm creating custom cabinetry solutions for developers, architects, builders and homeowners, says director Graeme Emmerson.
"We take pride in responding directly to our clients' needs, and the project seen here is a case in point," Emmerson says. "The owners wanted the kitchen to be user-friendly and have a clean, pared-back look when seen from adjoining living spaces.
"In response to this fairly open brief, we introduced deep, wide drawers that keep the work surfaces clutter-free and give the kitchen a spacious appearance."
In addition, Joinery Specialists set an appliance garage, pantry and oven off to one side, furthering the minimalist look.
The benchtops, in a 60mm white quartz laminate, accentuate the sculptural feel and provide durable work surfaces. These are contrasted with Ebony oak melamine cabinetry and a feature glass splashback.
