Waterproofing services were carried out on those external areas that have subterranean rooms underfoot
Before the concrete tiling could be put into place, under-tile waterproofing needed to be applied. Mohan Roofing Services successfully tendered to complete this element of the construction, which involved the installation of three layers of Nuplex Soprasun torch-on membrane over a total area of 9000m², along with guttering, and temporary waterproofing of stairs, gardens, planters and walls. The Auckland Business School is Mohan's largest job to date, says principal Brian Mohan.
"All exterior areas needed waterproofing membranes to weatherproof the lower occupied areas. We worked in 500m² block sections, completing waterproofing on Level 1 of the parking building, Levels 0 to 2 of the main podium, and all decking and tiled exterior spaces throughout the building."
The complexity and size of the construction meant careful scheduling was required. Many tradespeople were on site concurrently, and many exterior areas were used for storage of materials, says Mohan.
"The final stages of the project required us to deliver a great deal of materials onto the site before the last crane was removed. Logistically, we had to be very organised."
Another element of work completed by Mohan was the application of a Nuplex Jardin anti-root system beneath green areas, such as the grass planter in the central courtyard and the large planters in the lower areas.
