Colour can make a strong statement both inside and out. On the exterior of the Mitchell Homes house, the dark cedar weatherboards are a distinctive architectural element.

The boards were painted with Resene Waterborne Woodsman in Herman Pacific Hackett Black. This exterior wood stain colours timber while still allowing the natural grain of the wood to show through.

Resene marketing manager Karen Warman says the stain is an effective way to add colour to new or previously stained timber without hiding its natural beauty.

"Resene has also embraced the current trend towards non-traditional wood stain finishes and now offers a new range of 40 exterior wood stain colours in traditional, limed and bright hues," she says.

Resene paints also feature inside this home. Colours include Resene Livid Brown, which was specified for the front door and feature walls in the living room and master bedroom. Neutrals include Resene Black Haze.
