Natural wood with a variety of Resene finishes
Both architecture and interiors can be influenced by the surrounding landscape. Such was the case for this family home, which sits discreetly within the bush.
The natural setting helped determine the choice of pine plywood for all interior linings and furniture. The furniture and the linings, to a dado level of 2.4m, are coated in Environmental Choice-approved Resene Aquaclear clear urethane.
This hardwearing, low-sheen finish is juxtaposed with a more sophisticatedtreatment above the dado line and on the ceilings. Here the plywood has been finished in Resene Colorwood Whitewash, which provides a subtle contrast to the natural pine.
Resene Aquaclear clear finish is also used on the timber flooring, while Resene Uracryl 404 low-sheen urethane-acrylic provides a durable finish for benchtops.
But not every surface features natural wood. There are splashes of intense colour, inside and out, to contrast with the raw materials. All doors are painted in Resene Jalapeno, a spicy red, and on the exterior Resene Supernova, a bold yellow, contrasts with the macrocarpa cladding.
