Starting out on a renovation or new home project can seem overwhelming. You probably have lots of questions and may be unsure where to find the answers.

All that has changed, thanks to a new website launched by James Hardie. The Drawing Board puts all the information right at your fingertips from tips, advice and checklists to inspiring ideas and world-class building products.

Merv Giam of James Hardie says the website is intended to be a catalyst for homeowners and designers.

"Readers can see what's new and find out how to engage architectural services. The website profiles accredited architects and designers throughout New Zealand."

The Drawing Board also provides design tools, so you can plan your own project. These include a sketch tool that lets you draw a plan, which you can then submit to a local architect.

"Another tool is My House Visualiser, which lets you swap out cladding products and colours so you can see exactly how your new home could look," says Giam. "We showcase contemporary and traditional designs. And you can find out about our new Smarter Small Home series of affordable energy-efficient homes."
