The trouble with design industries ruled by ephemeral concerns, such as the latest fashion, is that they're such fickle beasts, one minute you're being praised for your minimalist aesthetic, the next derided for your passe sensibility.

Avoiding such pitfalls requires an in-depth knowledge of your field and the temerity to stay one step ahead of the latest fad, says Ulrich Siekmann, CEO and owner of SieMatic Me¶belwerke.

"SieMatic is a leader in the design and construction of quality kitchens, with an uncompromising commitment to innovative engineering and manufacturing excellence, honed over the past 80 years.

"With this in mind, we are pleased to announce the upcoming release of the BeauxArts.02 collection, designed with Chicago-based designer Mick De Giulio, who was instrumental in creating the first BeauxArts collection."

Stainless steel and glass wall cabinets with ebonized walnut interiors form a dramatic counterpoint to lacquered and stainless steel drawers and doors. Mirrored toekicks create the illusion that the base cabinets are floating above the floor, while the more linear design gives the whole a lighter, streamlined appearance.
