This creates a modern, seamless look while also being practical for cleaning. Flowing joinery hides a secretTimber veneer wraps the entrance wall into the kitchen, flowing through to the bar and hidden scullery door to create unity between the joinery and living space. The scullery also acts as a laundry, so the ability to close the hidden scullery door (make of solid oak) not only reduces noise from this area but creates a major design feature contributing to the overall look. Modern yet sympathetic to the character homeThe kitchen incorporates all the modern amenities a traditional 1940s home would not have – double ovens, integrated dishwasher, 900mm cook top and a feature bar.The owner's design brief to herself was light, modern yet sympathetic to the 1940s character home. The contrast between old and new is strong throughout the home but touches of brass, estatuario and light timbers provide a scheme which complements the timeless nature of the home.
