Work it out
Lit like a pop concert, this fitness studio uses theatre-quality lighting products

More than just a teacher, the instructor in charge of a Les Mills Group Fitness class is also a performer. At Les Mills Hutt City, the instructors perform on a stage lit like a concert with a changing program of vibrantly coloured lights, which help to make the classes fun.
The system was supplied by MJF Lighting, a company that designs and supplies complete lighting systems suitable for theatre, television, commercial and residential use. Drawing on their contacts with a range of professional lighting companies around the world, MJF Lighting was able to find just the right products for this project.
The system needed to use the latest technology, yet be simple to use and versatile enough to be updated in the future. Because the lamps used in each light are long-life, and the colour changes happen automatically in a pre-programmed sequence, very little intervention or maintenance is required.

Evan Owens, project manager at MJF Lighting, says the products chosen work well in this sort of space.
"The Martin Alien 02, used on the colour-changing wall, provides exactly the effect the client was looking for. We chose this product for its advanced design and the fact that it is a compact, programmable architectural light with full CMY colour mixing," he says.
MJF Lighting provides full production services for events ranging from corporate functions to professional theatre. The experienced staff also provide a lighting consultancy service. In addition, lighting equipment can be rented on a short or long term basis.

From its Wellington showroom, the company sells a wide range of products including luminaires by Selecon, control desks and dimmers by Theatrelight, specialised effect lighting by Martin and lighting control systems and energy management technology by Dynalite.
