Winning pool from Acqua Pools

Taking gold in an industry-run awards event speaks volumes about a company's services and the calibre of its products.

At the 2012 Master Pool Builders awards, Acqua Pools and Spas won gold in the pools under $50,000 category. Acqua Pools director Alvin Crosby says there are several aspects involved in designing an attractive, enduring pool.

"As well as being architecturally dynamic, our designs take into account the nature of water and water flow, for a pool that not only looks good, but also works well by eliminating dead spots, variations in temperature, high chemical costs and many other potential issues."

Crosby says his team's experience also helps when it comes to assessing exactly what the owners want from their pool.

"For example, often clients will ask for a 1.7m-deep pool, when really it needs to be shallower at one end for their children to enjoy it too. One way to achieve both is to have a deep swim lane within the pool.

"For this award-winning project, the owners wanted an organic shape, much like the look of a pond. Blue mosaic tiles at the waterline add a light sparkle while all pool plant is tucked away out of sight."
