Where the living is easy
Next to the canal and only a few minutes from the ocean, this renovated home offers a relaxed base for outdoor living
Our notions of coastal living havematured over the years. Where once location was enough, high-end fittings and appliances in architect-designed homes are now what we look for.
Originally, this home in Broadbeach was a 25-year-old box in poor condition, says Adrian Hill of Adrian Hill Developments. Hill renovated the home, adding an alfresco eating and barbecue area, home theatre, pool, deck and jetty.
On the ground level, bifold doors allow easy access to the outdoor dining area and pool. On the second storey, a frameless glass balustrade ensures uninterrupted views of the pool and canal from the balcony of the master bedroom.
The interior is fitted with large white porcelain tiles in the living areas and pale carpets in the bedrooms. The kitchen features Miele appliances and Quartz stone benchtops.
"This is a light-coloured home, with plenty of natural daylight and white furniture and flooring the overall effect is one of relaxed, beachside living," says Hill.
Plasma TV screens have been installed in the sunken home theatre formerly the double garage as well as in the alfresco eating area, bedrooms and living areas.
Other services include Vacuum Maid, a security system with intercom and electronic gates, C-Bus lighting and reverse cycle air conditioning and heating.
