Research is important when embarking on a kitchen renovation. To protect their investment, homeowners should look beyond design layouts and colour schemes, to find a company that sees things from their perspective, says Adaleen Griffith, general manager at Fineline Kitchens.

"Often, clients get lost in the details of a kitchen, or locked into a project before doing basic product and company research. It is important that a client chooses a kitchen on not only the look, but also the function and features it offers to their individual lifestyle," she says.

Griffith believes that at the design stage, it costs nothing but the stroke of a pencil to make changes. For this reason, Fineline Kitchens ensures its clients get one-on-one attention and adequate design time.

To further reduce the risk of a disappointing result, Fineline uses a refundable bond system.

If the client is not happy, the company will go back to the drawing board, or refund the bond in full. It also has a risk reversal policy for payments.
