What lies beneath
Solid, semi-industrial good looks are only part of the story with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances the Westye showroom puts these no-nonsense appliances through their paces
Contemporary appliances often look the picture of design efficiency especially when standing proud and still in a showroom display. However, this isn't really enough your appliances have to perform, and perform well, under pressure. To fully understand an appliance you need to see it in a hard-pressed working kitchen environment.
The Westye Group is a specialist wholesaler focused on appliances that back their semi-industrial looks with commercial-level functionality in particular Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances.
Westye's Living Kitchen Showroom takes the latest models in these brands and puts them to work, with guest chefs preparing meals that showcase the appliances' ease of use and versatility.
Some appliances to come under scrutiny in Westye's Living Kitchen are shown here.
The Sub-Zero Side-by-side Refrigerator/freezer has a shallow-depth design so a chef can reach anything in a second. It also features upfront electronic controls and a large high-humidity compartment. An under-counter stainless steel Wolf Wine Storage Unit has roller-glide shelves and a door that opens 90°, for easy and instant access.
Alongside cooling is cooking. A Wolf Dual Fuel Range has a gas cooktop and a large electric oven. The oven offers 10 cooking modes, and a spring-and-damper oven door that is a quiet pleasure to use.
Other appliances in the Living Kitchen include the Wolf 36in Gas Range with convection oven, the Pro Wall Hood in 16-gauge brushed stainless steel, and the Wolf Warming drawer with a hidden electric touch control panel and stainless steel interior.
While both Sub-Zero and Wolf create strong, workhorse appliances, it is never at the expense of aesthetics. Wolf's signature red knobs and cobalt-blue oven interiors, for example, have become strong design statements in their own right.
The Sub-Zero Glass Door Refrigerator reflects another aspect of these appliance lines modern innovation. The effect of back-lit produce behind gleaming glass an attractive one; it also means chefs can tell at a glance where to find their favorite sauce before even touching the refrigerator door.
While most models are stand-out kitchen features, Sub-Zero's Integrated Refrigerator/freezer is designed to merge with the cabinetry. Its integrated design means it can sit anywhere in the home.
