Welcoming
A rich, warm palette of colors and textures helped transform this house into a home
Building a period home such as this requires an informed choice of materials. Its Mediterranean Revivalist style therefore called for stone and tile work throughout.
Stone Care supplied and installed much of the home's indoor stone and tile. The main foyer and staircase wall is clad with filled and honed cross-cut travertine from Tivoli, Italy. The stone was cut to size, beveled on all four sides, then laid in a brick pattern.
The master bedroom tiling presented a challenge, as glass tiles had to be installed on the ceiling and walls. This required builders to use specialized scaffolding to access hard-to-reach areas. Rapid-setting epoxy adhesives were also necessary to stop the tiles sagging or slipping off the ceiling.
Stone Care fabricated all the marble panels on the vertical surfaces of the bathroom, and made and installed his-and-hers vanity tops. The company was also engaged in post-construction restoration and detailing of the home's stone floors.
