Waving a qualified wand
With professional skills and expertise in home building, this 1970s house was extensively rebuilt by a Certified Builder to suit a modern lifestyle
For a renovation project to be entirely successful, it will always require a good design and building team.
In the home featured here, architectural designer Bryce Ardern ADNZ interpreted the family's needs and redesigned their 1970s home to better suit their lifestyle. Spaces were opened up to the outdoors and to each other, ceilings were re-lined for a seamless flow, and negative details between the ceiling and clerestory windows enhance the contemporary look.
Certified Builder Bruce Sciascia of Bruce Sciascia Builders took on the plans to carry out the renovation work and finish the house to a high standard.
The house was effectively gutted, but the original footprint was retained and extended by 25m² to create a larger living and dining area.
Training to a trade-qualified level is a requirement to become a member of the Certified Builders Association. This training includes work ethics such as honesty, integrity and responsibility, and members receive ongoing education about new products and building methods.
