Warm tones, clean lines
The juxtaposition of varying materials and natural tones has resulted in a warm and refined aesthetic in this kitchen, designed by Yellowfox
Ask most people what they see when they imagine a modern kitchen and they will often describe a space that has a crisp look, with a simple palette of colours.
To ensure that this kitchen was contemporary in terms of functionality, and displayed a look that was warm and comfortable, Yellowfox designer Andrea Burney used complementary materials, textures and colours.
"The light, fine-grained, Bestwood Rye reconstituted veneer cabinetry is contrasted against the dark, coarse, two-toned grain of the Bestwood Ebano Noce veneer on the island, which appears to float up from the dark timber floor," says the designer.
Adding to the minimalist look are pocket hinged pantry doors, providing unobstr-ucted access. Aluminium extrusion handles by Hettich further this streamlined look.
"Hettich Innotech Quadro drawer runners with Silent System are used on all the drawers, and the Orgaflex undersink drawer unit is a convenient way to utilise space," says Burney.
The twin Electrolux ovens are installed at bench height, for ease of access and viewing.
When it comes to design, Burney says that Yellowfox is a one-stop shop.
"Our strong associations with many high-profile companies in the building sector means that if there is anything we can't provide at Yellowfox, we can refer you to a specialist in that field who can help."
