As one of a city's most important showcases, an art gallery needs to have an appearance of a very high standard one that is innovative and individual.

Kaneba was brought into the project to supply and install aluminium composite panels around the interior and exterior of the Auckland Art Gallery. Kaneba director Jan Gouws says the company's main objectives were to visualise the architect's requirements and convert his designs to a finished product.

"The concepts provided by the architect were not run-of-the-mill in their design, manufacture or installation detailing, which created an opportunity for Kaneba to demonstrate its refined processes, manufacturing facility and dedicated staff," he says.

"The goal for our company was to provide a quality product that was different and individual, and the result of this challenge is a very special composite panel design that is unique to the Art Gallery," says Gouws.

Kaneba exclusively uses Alucobond® composite aluminium panels, which support its vision to be the most trusted provider of architectural cladding solutions in New Zealand. For the art gallery project, a range of different Alucobond surface finishes were used, including the clear-coated 401 NaturAL Lined Alucobond. Alucobond panels can be seen on the Daylight Gallery walls and on several ceilings throughout the gallery.
