Cammeray in north Sydney is known for its friendly, village-style atmosphere, and for its central location just a moment's walk from the restaurants of Crow's Nest and a short drive to the CBD.

Designed and constructed by Southern Cross Constructions in association with architecture firm Marchese + Partners, the new Cammeray Square provides a fitting focal point for the vibrant area. The contemporary, mixed-use development is located on the former site of Clarke & Walker and Mitre 10, and features four boutique buildings set around a dynamic, piazza-style podium courtyard.

Buildings A, B and D contain ground-floor retail spaces and three levels of residential apartments, while building C features ground-floor retail space, two levels of commercial offices and a childcare centre. In total, there are 39 two- and three-bedroom apartments, including penthouses, all of which have spacious outdoor areas, some with rooftop gardens.

The design of the building's distinctive facade incorporates a range of materials, including Alucobond aluminium cladding, timber cladding, aluminium louvres, render, structural steel and face brick. Interiors are light and airy, and feature high-end fittings and finishings. Construction materials were recycled wherever possible.

The 1600m² north-facing courtyard was designed by landscape architects Eckersley Stafford Design. At the heart of the space is an expressive 6m-high sculpture created by award-winning sculptor Greg Johns, as well as a water feature that utilises recycled water. A rainwater tank has been designed to feed recycled water for non-potable use to the whole of building C.

Multi-award winning Southern Cross Constructions is a vital part of the Southern Cross Project Group, a leading, privately owned Australian construction firm. Since its inception in 1986, the company has built up a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, industrial and retail buildings.
