Versatility plus
With the strength of stone and aesthetic of acrylics, benchtops from Askilan Australia combine the ingredients for success in your kitchen

Durability is something we all expect from kitchen surfaces. But homeowners today are also demanding benchtops that enhance the aesthetics of their kitchen.
It is certainly possible to find both features in a single product, says Wayne Marshall, general manager of Askilan Australia.
"Askilan is the only product on the market that is a hybrid," he says. "It is a mix of quartz and polyester, producing surfaces that have the strength of stone and the aesthetics of acrylics."
The benefits of this stone-based blend include resilience to the heavy wear and tear of everyday use. Marshall says the benchtops are scratch and abrasion resistant and, because Askilan is 100% non porous, is also resistant to stains.

"Askilan is also waterproof, making it safe for use in food preparation areas, as bacteria cannot adhere to the benchtop and breed."
Askilan products are fire resistant and impervious to steam, boiling water and temperatures up to 180 degrees. As a result, the product can be used around the cooktop and oven, without fear of cracking or melting.
Marshall says the versatility of Askilan extends to the ease of fabrication. The product's mechanical strength makes the sheets easier to handle, allowing some manufacturing to be performed on site.
"Kitchen designs can be enhanced by Askilan, a stone surface being used not only on the kitchen surface, but also on the kitchen cupboard end panels," he says.
Askilan Australia is a member of the GBI Holdings Group of Companies, and the distributor for Askilan and Askilan ES solid surface benchtop, wall panelling, partitioning and splashback material.
"Askilan is an all-round versatile product that does not require constant attention to maintain its quality finish," he says.
