THE BUSINESS mantra right first time every time' took on a special meaning for Hansens, the company commissioned to install the cabinetry throughout Volt Apartments. Unless the company followed the mantra to the letter, the job simply wasn't going to get done.

With just four days to install cabinetry and doors for each level, the only option was to make sure every item fitted exactly before it left the factory, says Grayson Hyde of Hansens.

"Every single door was custom sized to fit," he says "It's inevitable that you get small discrepancies in the framing size for a pre-hung door it could be as much as 15%.

"We've devised a system that allows us to measure each door electronically on site and custom-make it in the factory before installation."

The result was that all 1300 doors, 416 kitchens and416 vanities fitted correctly first time.

"This approach is economic for the builder, as it means that discrepancies in the framing sizes simply aren't a problem," says Hyde.

The kitchen cabinetry follows either a white or charcoal colour scheme, and uses 18mm melamine-faced MDF board. The cabinets feature satin chrome handles, stainless steel integrated bench tops and electronic hobs, and integrated oven rangehoods.

This is the fourth project of this kind Hansens has completed for the main contractor Scarbro. The company also specialises in high-end domestic cabinetry.
