Urban connection
The design of a new apartment building at 38 The Bond responds to the heritage buildings nearby and to the urban context and drama of the wharf and bond store
Designing kitchens for apartments before they are sold means choosing styles and finishes that are likely to appeal to a wide variety of tastes.
At 38 The Bond, PTW opted for a simple, clean, classic look for the kitchens in each of the apartments.
"In a prestigious project like this, it's necessary to come up with a look that will appeal to as many people as possible," says architect Mark Butler.
Laminex White Polar laminate was selected for the cabinetry to give the kitchens a fresh look. It also provides a sophisticated background that works well with other materials and finishes introduced by apartment owners.
As well as being durable, Laminex laminates are UV-stable, so they won't fade, an important consideration in an open-plan apartment in a high-rise building. Laminex laminates are available in a wide range of more than 200 different colours, including a variety of wood grains, as well as plain and patterned laminates.
