Urban connection
The design of a new apartment building at 38 The Bond responds to the heritage buildings nearby and to the urban context and drama of the wharf and bond store

To create the right mix of classic and modern for the exterior appearance of 38 The Bond, PTW Architects specified Rheinzink cladding for the walls of the first five floors of the building.
Rheinzink pre-weathered zinc was installed by Architectural Roofing and Wall Cladding, who worked closely with the architect, and Craft Metals, who supplied the product and provided technical and advisory services on the design.
The Rheinzink panels were developed to meet PTW's design and concept requirements. In addition to this, they were chosen to reflect the environmentally friendly concepts of the project.
Architectural Roofing and Wall Cladding installed the FF2 aluminium cladding used for the awnings that cantilever off the building to provide weather protection for the shops at street level. The company also installed the internal feature copper downpipe at 30 The Bond.
