Upon reflection
With its sleek reflective surfaces and stainless steel Smeg appliances, this new kitchen is set to shine
Space and light are crucial ingredients of any kitchen, particularly when it is the centre of operations for the family. And one of the most effective ways to provide a spacious, light-filled interior is through the choice of materials and appliances.
To create such an environment in this new David Reid Homes show home in Orewa, the designer specified white cabinetry, back-painted white glass splashbacks, white Stonex benchtops and sleek stainless steel Smeg appliances.
The ceramic cooktop, for example, is flush mounted into the benchtop to enhance the clean, uncluttered look. No sacrifice in functionality was necessary, however. The 77cm cooktop has four extra-high-speed elements, built-in safety features, and touch controls that ensure it is simple to operate.
A Smeg side-by-side, 546-litre stainless steel refrigerator/freezer fits neatly into the rear wall. This model incorporates an electronic ice and water dispenser with a water filter and light.
At the opposite end of the kitchen is a Smeg 60cm stainless steel wall oven, which provides eight functions in the main oven and four in the auxiliary. Stay-clean liners in both ovens make them easy to maintain. Also included is a Smeg microwave oven with matching trim kit.
The contemporary, stainless steel finish of the appliances is complemented by recessed drawer handles and two undermounted sinks in the island.
