Under tropical skies Marley Magnum spouting and drainpipe system

Creating an exotic holiday destination in the South Pacific is a balancing act for a specifier, sourcing products that combine an appropriately upmarket aesthetic with the robust functionality required to cope with the tropical climate.

Northern Blue Construction and Studio Architects faced such a challenge at the new Naisoso Island development in Nadi Bay, Fiji. A short walk from the island's five-star hotels, gourmet restaurants and vast marina, the 1000m² hideaway features views to Fiji's lush hinterland on one side and out to the ocean on the other.

One issue for the designers was to find a way to safely manage the periods of heavy rainfall common at this latitude and to achieve this with spouting and downpipes that would stand up well to the corrosive coastal environment, says Marley senior product manager Scott Townsend.

"Marley's half-round Magnum spouting and downpipe system provided the appropriate, rugged solution, combining style with durability and performance. Contractor Blueridge Plumbing also remarked on the ease of installation in what was the company's first experience using Marley Magnum."

With a spouting cross-sectional area of over 14000mm² and large 110mm downpipes, the system has the capacity to handle oversized roofs and the heaviest tropical downpours. It is made from 100% recyclable uPVC so will never rust, even in the harshest coastal locations. Available in light grey with a distinctive external bracket system, Marley Magnum makes a design statement that lasts.

"Northern Blue and Studio are planning more houses on Naisoso Island using Marley Magnum spouting and downpipes," says Townsend.
