Natural materials also extend to the interiors. To complement the dramatic look of the stone panels outside, the designer specified a wood-panel feature wall in the main entrance.

The wall was completed by 2 Scale Cabinetmakers, a company that custom builds a wide variety of wooden features and furniture pieces to individual specifications. The feature wall is made from oak veneer panels, says managing director Robert Fish.

"We matched the grain of the wood across the panels for a sleek look. Oak is used elsewhere to link the interior spaces, such as in the master bedroom, which includes a custom-built oak headboard."

The company also created the master wardrobe, a painted MDF fireplace and television surround in the living room, and air conditioning cupboards throughout the house.

Aside from furniture pieces and panelled walls, 2 Scale Cabinetmakers can also create complete kitchens, bathrooms and entire house fit-outs from a variety of materials.
