While the exterior of the home is designed to fit with the coastal outlook, the design of the open-plan living room and kitchen takes a different angle, using LED lights to add a contemporary glow.

The kitchen was designed by Mal Corboy and created by Fyfe Kitchens. It consists of back-painted glass cabinets that were colour-matched with a prominent Gaggenau oven, which was a specific request of the homeowners.

Another request was for a kitchen island, but the size of the space made this difficult. To create the appearance of an island, Corboy positioned the cooktop opposite the sink on a protruding benchtop, with a rangehood overhead. A lighting panel on the front of the cabinetry completes the look. The benchtops are Corian, a material that accommodates the LED lighting strips.

Fyfe Kitchens brought the design to fruition, installing the cabinetry for the kitchen and adjoining scullery.
